Cumberland Avenue has been closed at Aird Street because of a sinkhole.
The city said the sinkhole formed after a water main leak in the area.
Cumberland is shut down between Colony and Temperance Streets.
The city says work will begin in the area Tuesday, and it will likely last for two days.
In the meantime, drivers are asked to avoid the area and use Clarence or Preston Avenues to access College Drive and 8th Street.
