At about 4:30 Monday afternoon the Saskatoon Fire Dept. was called out to Highway 11 and Circle Drive East after a semi-trailer unit struck an overpass.
In a release, the fire dept. says no one was injured, no hazardous materials were involved and the overpass was still visibly operational, but there was a significant amount of debris because of broken cement that had fallen after the impact.
Fire dispatchers notified the City of Saskatoon and requested that an engineer attend the scene to assess the structural integrity of the overpass.
Firefighters used fire engines to block traffic as they removed the debris from the highway.
The scene was left with the Saskatoon police for further investigation.
