Between March 1 and Thursday, the Saskatchewan RCMP has received 894 calls related to COVID-19 and has laid 13 charges.
In a media release Friday, the Mounties said the calls for service have included:
- 229 complaints of social gatherings of more than 10 people;
- 359 complaints of people failing to self-isolate when required to do so; and,
- 270 other COVID-19-related complaints
The RCMP said the vast majority of the calls were resolved by educating members of the public about the potential health and enforcement consequences that can result from non-compliance with the public health order.
The RCMP said it continues to work closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority to investigate any potential violations of the order.
