Saskatoon won’t be closing the Traffic Bridge to vehicles anytime soon.
Councillor Cynthia Block posted a poll on Twitter asking for opinions on the idea Thursday.
Spring weather and cabin fever are bringing #yxe residents outside in droves at a time when physical distancing is essential. With far fewer vehicles on the road, and far more pedestrians and cyclists, should the Traffic Bridge be dedicated to active transportation?

She met with the rest of council, administration and emergency services to discuss it further Friday morning.
“There have been some changes to those ideas,” she told 650 CKOM.
They came to the conclusion that the bridge is too important of a route for fire trucks and ambulances to close.
However, changes to other areas could still be on the way.
“Similar investigations are ongoing right now with the city to see what we can do so that people can flow more easily for walking and cycling and still maintain that physical distance,” Block explained.
“It will be something that we continue to monitor.”
