The Saskatoon SPCA is the latest facility to close its doors to the public in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a release Thursday afternoon, the shelter said it is now in urgent need to get 14 dogs and 46 cats adopted.
All dog and puppy adoptions fees have been reduced to $150, and the fee for cats and kittens has been waived entirely.
“We have no choice but to find homes for our adoptable animals as soon as possible. Our mandate is and will continue to be the welfare of animals, and we cannot provide that without the help of our community at this time,” said Graham Dickson, executive director of the Saskatoon SPCA.
Dickson said they are also preparing for a worst-case scenario and anticipating a temporary closure of the shelter at some point.
The shelter is also in urgent need of cash donations to help keep things going according to the release.
