NFL teams are announcing billions of dollars worth of contracts today with the NFL free-agency day kicking off.
Are they out of touch or a welcome distraction?
Can they be both?
In a time the world is gripped with COVID-19 and death and sickness, job layoffs, closures and cancellations, we have the NFL freely making it rain on free-agent players.
It’s a questionable look for a league which will ask those hit hard by coronavirus to turn around in the fall and have to pay these owners hard-earned money to help pay for the billions they spend in the coming days.
However, I’ll be honest that I had a little bit of a relief from the onslaught of tough news to fall into the NFL and the impact of Tom Brady going to the Bucs.
Sports has always provided a distraction from the real world and don’t we all need a little bit of it right now?
I certainly do.
