Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark took to social media Saturday to remind people to look after each other during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“How we manage through this will not just depend on our individual actions, but our ability to pull together as a community to look out for each other,” Clark said in a Twitter post.
How we manage through this will not just depend on our individual actions, but our ability to pull together as a community and look out for each other. It matters more than ever who our neighbours are and how they are doing: https://t.co/i1ftAYvS34 #yxe pic.twitter.com/rpVjUyJAHh

He was drawing attention to comments made earlier in the week by Medical Health Officer Dr. Johnmark Opondo.
“This is when you’re really going to need your social network,” Opondo said last Monday. “At least get three people who (you) can connect with.”
Despite the advice coming before Saskatchewan announced presumptive COVID-19 cases Clark believes it’s good.
“Safety and health for our community through this outbreak won’t come from each person stocking up on their own food and toilet paper and getting into an ‘every person for themselves’ mentality. It will come from looking beyond our own situations and looking at how we can band together,” Clark said in a post on his website.
Opondo said if you’re in self-isolation your “three buddies” won’t be with you, but can offer help like delivering food or other necessities.
