A 31-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to kill two police officers Tuesday.
Members of the guns and gangs unit were in a back alley in the 300 block of Avenue Q North around 4 p.m. when two known gang members approached them.
One of the men confronted police officers aggressively and began threatening them, saying he had a firearm in his backpack.
When officers exited their vehicle, the two men began walking away. One of the men stopped between two parked cars, reached into his backpack and took a “shooter stance,” according to a police media release.
An additional member of the gang and guns unit arrived at the scene for assistance and took the man into custody.
No gun was found.
The 31-year-old man is facing two charges of uttering threats to cause death.
A preliminary investigation from officers shows the incident to be gang-related.
