A crash involving a semi on Highway 16 near Lashburn during a snowstorm Saturday evening has left a 35-year-old woman in critical condition.
According to RCMP, two drivers were standing outside their vehicles to exchange information after being involved in a collision when a semi attempted to swerve around the collision scene.
The semi hit both vehicles and one of the drivers who was standing on the road.
The woman was taken to hospital in Lloydminster and then airlifted to Edmonton the next day. She is in critical condition.
A gofundme page identifies the victim as Vickie Bailey, a wife and mother of three. As of Tuesday morning, the page had raised over $20,000.
“(Vickie) gives tirelessly to her community through her children’s activities, her work at the Maidstone Health Complex and local fundraising efforts. She will be off work for an unknown amount of time, and her husband Aaron will need to be home to care for his family,” said a description on the page.
The Mounties said visibility was near zero at the time of the collision, with high winds and heavy snow.
The RCMP said there haven’t been any charges laid but the investigation is ongoing.
