A 25-year-old man is facing a number of charges after a stabbing that took place in the 3300 block of Eighth Street East on Friday.
At around 6:30 p.m., police were called to the area where a 44-year-old man was reported to be injured.
Officers found the man, who said he’d been having a verbal exchange with two unknown men when one of the men stabbed him with a knife. A canine officer arriving in the area spotted a suspicious man on Oliver Crescent. He was taken into custody and was in possession of a knife.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The second male suspect is being sought by police.
The 25-year-old is facing charges that include aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction and breach of an undertaking.
Further investigation has resulted in the man also being charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred earlier Friday at a convenience store at Second Avenue and 25th Street. In that incident, a man allegedly pointed a gun at a staff member.
The weapon was found to be an imitation gun.
The 25-year-old is facing charges in this incident that include escaping lawful custody and armed robbery.
A man who was initially taken into custody was found not to have been involved.
A third incident, a stabbing that occurred minutes before the armed robbery, remains under investigation.
