Five teenagers are in custody after a bus driver and a police officer were bear-sprayed in Saskatoon on Thursday evening.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were dispatched to the area of 33rd Street and Avenue B at around 8:20 p.m., for a report that a group of youths had bear-sprayed and spit at a city bus driver.
Officers found the youths nearby and were in the process of arresting them when a 16-year-old girl bear-sprayed one of the officers in the face.
Two girls were arrested at the scene. Three boys tried to run away, but were arrested by other officers who were arriving.
Charges laid included assaulting a police officer as well as weapons-related charges.
