The final of the 2020 Viterra Scotties provincial women’s curling championship will be a rematch of the 2019 final.
Saskatoon’s Sherry Anderson defeated Saskatoon’s Ashley Howard 7-5 in Tuesday’s semifinal at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville. That gave Anderson a shot at North Battleford’s Robyn Silvernagle in the provincial final for a second-straight year.
In 2019, Silvernagle defeated Anderson 6-5 to claim the provincial title.
The 2020 final is set for 2:30 p.m., at the Horizon Credit Union Centre.
Silvernagle and her North Battleford team of Stefanie Lawton, Jessie Hunkin and Kara Thevenot advanced to the final with a 7-6 victory over Howard in Monday’s 1-2 Page playoff game.
The loss dropped Howard into the semifinal against Anderson, who downed Moose Jaw’s Penny Barker 10-2 in Monday’s 3-4 Page playoff game.
Anderson and Howard were tied 3-3 after six ends in Tuesday’s contest, but Howard scored two in the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. Anderson answered with a deuce in the eighth to tie the game and then stole singles in each of the ninth and 10th ends for the win.
Anderson is backed by Nancy Martin, Meaghan Frerichs and Chaelynn Kitz.
