Some Saskatchewan residents should prepare for a foggy Friday.
Environment Canada issued a fog advisory Friday for Regina, as well as other centres across southeastern and central Saskatchewan.
The advisories cover areas around Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Bienfait, Stoughton, Estevan, Weyburn, Radville, Milestone, Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Moosomin, Grenfell, Kipling, Wawota, Yorkton, Melville and Esterhazy.
Environment Canada metorologist Robyn Dyck said Friday morning that the visibility at the Regina airport was about one kilometre.
“(Around) midday, I’d say we’d see an improvement in visibility, but I don’t think it will last long,” Dyck said. “Coming to the afternoon or evening, the fog will redevelop so we’ll see that reduction in visibility, at least by this evening.”
Dyck said a weather system is to enter the area Saturday that could bring some precipitation with it. If so, that could help eradicate the fog.
“However, this fog is quite dense and the system coming through is quite weak,” she said. “Right now we’re advertising that the fog could lift Saturday morning, but it’s really hard to pin down exactly if that system will really mix things up enough to clear the fog out for sure.”
Dyck said winds blowing out of the southeast are bringing warm air out of North Dakota, which is responsible for the foggy conditions.
