Keltie Jeri-Leon scored two of Seattle’s three third-period goals and the Thunderbirds beat the Regina Pats 4-2 in WHL action Friday in Kent, Wash.
Regina fell to 1-3-0-0 on its swing through the U.S. Division. The Pats are to complete the trip Saturday in Spokane against the Chiefs.
On Friday, Lucas Ciona gave the T-Birds a 1-0 lead at 13:14 of the first period, but Zack Smith (at 8:13) and Josh Paulhus (at 9:31) scored in the second to put Regina up 2-1 through 40 minutes.
Paulhus, a 17-year-old whom the Pats recalled from the SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos on Thursday, scored his first career WHL goal in his first-ever regular-season game.
Jeri-Leon sparked Seattle’s rally in the third, scoring at 2:41 to tie the score and sniping again at 9:43 to give the Thunderbirds the lead.
Simon Kubicek completed the scoring for the home team with a goal at 13:15 of the final frame.
Donovan Buskey made 26 saves for the Pats (13-24-3-2). Thomas Milic stopped 23 shots for Seattle (18-20-2-1).
