Two companies were fined in Saskatchewan courts this week after a pair of workplace injuries.
On Monday, Trinidad Drilling Ltd., of Calgary was fined a total of $280,000 in Estevan Provincial Court.
The fine stemmed from an incident that occurred June 4, 2017, at a job site near Torquay. A worker was injured when a pressurized hose came into contact with a rotating pipe.
Trinidad pleaded guilty on Sept. 9 to contravening a subsection of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Another charge was stayed.
Also Monday, Thunder Creek Pork Ltd. of Regina was fined a total of $60,000 in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.
The company was charged in the wake of an incident on July 18, 2018, at a worksite in Moose Jaw. In that instance, a worker was injured after falling from a trailer and landing on a cement floor.
The employer pleaded guilty to one violation of the Occupational Health and Safety regulations. A second charge was withdrawn.
