Vic Huard is executive vice-president of Federated Co-operatives Limited, and he joins John to discuss the recent escalations and whether the police are doing enough to help.

11:00 – A student at Weyburn Comprehensive School was removed from class and sent to the office last week for wearing a hoodie with the message “virginity rocks” on it. Osten Parisien says he was disappointed to be removed from class for what he thought was a positive message, and says he’s had the hoodie for years and never had an issue with it before. The school’s dress code prohibits references to sex, but is a reference to virginity the same? We’ve asked for comments from the school and the South East Cornerstone Public School Division, but they haven’t said a word so far. We’ll hear from Osten next, and we also want to hear your thoughts so give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and join the conversation!

12:00 – According to new research, the medical community may have “grossly underestimated” the number of deaths around the world related to sepsis, a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s response to an infection causes injury to itself. According to a new analysis published yesterday in The Lancet, as many as 11 million people died of sepsis in 2017, and it could be responsible for as many as one in five deaths around the globe, including 30,000 deaths annually in Canada alone. Dr. Tex Kissoon, who co-authored the study, says it represents a big shift in thinking in the medical community, and he joins Gormley to discuss the research and what it means for our health.
