10:00 – Throughout his first term as PM, Justin Trudeau was successful in boosting diversity, social justice, environmentalism, and Indigenous reconciliation, but he struggled in the House of Commons and mishandled some key events that put a strain on Canada’s national unity. Colin Robertson with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute says Trudeau’s foreign policy decisions left many shaking their heads, as Canada found itself caught in the middle of the dispute between the US and China. With Canada in the running for a seat on the UN Security Council in June, Robertson says losing would be “traumatic” for Trudeau’s government “and their sense of Canada’s place in the world.” Robertson joins Gormley to discuss his new report scrutinizing Trudeau’s foreign policy over his first term in office, and – more importantly – what Trudeau should be doing differently this time around.
LIVE: Colin Robertson, former diplomat, VP and fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.
11:00 – Is Canada’s gain the UK’s loss if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relocate here? Phil Dampier, Royal Family journalist and author of “Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words,” says that might not be the case, and if their marriage should happen to fail he’s not sure whether the British public would welcome Harry back into the fold. Dampier says the couple’s surprise move to step back from duties as senior members of the Royal Family was a big win for Harry and Meghan, and he couldn’t imagine it happening 20 years ago when Prince Philip was still active as the head of the family. Dampier joins Gormley to discuss the reaction to the move in the UK and what he expects will happen over the coming days and weeks.

Kelly Keehn, Personal Finance Educator and Consumer Advocate for FP Canada, says people can’t be expected to learn about finance on their own because nobody is talking about it. She says we also spend beyond our means, partially due to the pressures we put on ourselves through social media. In her new book “Talk Money to Me,” Keehn answers the most common questions we all have about money and how to avoid making big mistakes along the way. Keehn joins Gormley to talk about the most common financial slip-ups and why we’re so scared to talk about our finances.
