All school buses for Regina’s public and Catholic schools have been cancelled today, Jan. 16, amid the extreme, deep cold blanketing Saskatchewan.
That includes yellow school buses, cabs and buses that serve students with special needs, like wheelchair lifts and paratransit.
Classes are still on, and the divisions expect parents to report their kids’ absences.
North and east of Regina, several school bus routes in the Prairie Valley School Division have been cancelled.
Those include the following school-bus routes: Balgonie, Bethune, Edenwold, Grand Coulee, Lumsden, Milestone, Pense, Pilot Butte, Regina Beach and White City, among others. Check here for the full list and for updates.
The schools themselves are still open and classes are still on. The division will send out an update at 1 p.m. if afternoon buses are running or not.
Regions south and west of Regina have cancelled bus routes in the Prairie South School Division, serving Moose Jaw and the surrounding areas.
Most bus routes in the division are cancelled for the full day, including Assiniboia, Central Butte, Coronach, Moose Jaw routes and Rockglen, among others.

Standing Buffalo School, near Fort Qu’Appelle has cancelled all buses and classes for students for the day, but staff are expected to be at the school.
As of 6:30 Thursday morning, Environment Canada issued extreme cold warnings for every region in the province.
