Monday’s temperatures are set to reach a low of -33 C, and that’s just the start. The rest of the week is expected to range from -24 C to the around -30 C.
For some of us, the frigid temperatures are avoided at all costs by staying indoors when at home as well as at work. However, there are some who don’t have that luxury as their jobs require them to brave the cold on a daily basis.
When asking people whose jobs require them to be outside, the tips for staying warm range everywhere from wearing layers to drinking coffee and staying on the move.
“Honestly it’s kind of the silly stuff like jumping jacks and stuff to keep the feet warm,” said co-op gas station attendant Keesha Tanner.
“We’re kind of lucky we get to take turns and go in and out. Coffee is another thing we use to keep warm and we get feet and hand warmers as well.”
She says it takes a bit of mental preparation in the mornings to talk herself into going out in the cold all day.
“Well you try to give yourself a pep talk in the morning to just know that it’s going to be cold,” said Tanner.
But honestly you just roll out of bed, just gotta do what you gotta do. Come to work, get payed.”
