The Regina Pats opened a five-game swing through the WHL’s U.S. Division with a 5-4 loss to the Tri-City Americans on Saturday in Kennewick, Wash.
Drew Englot scored twice for the Pats, who got one goal apiece from Riley Krane and Nikita Sedov.
Regina trailed 2-0 and 4-0 at the intermissions and was down 5-1 in the third before cutting the deficit to one. But the Pats weren’t able to get the tying goal.
Edge Lambert, Luke Zazula, Sasha Mutala, Krystof Hrabik and Connor Bouchard scored for the Americans.
Donovan Buskey made 35 saves in the Pats’ goal. Talyn Boyko stopped 37 shots for Tri-City (14-19-4-1).
Regina (12-22-3-2) is to continue its trip Sunday in Everett, Wash., against the Silvertips. The trip also is to feature games against the Portland Winterhawks (on Tuesday), Seattle Thunderbirds (Friday) and Spokane Chiefs (Saturday).
