Extreme cold warning continued Friday for west-central Saskatchewan.
The warnings cover Kindersley, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, as well as the far north.
Environment Canada said an arctic ridge is bringing wind chills colder than -40 C to the province.
“Bundle up,” said meteorologist Dave Carlsen. “(Temperatures are) probably not going to get above -20 C for most of the province, maybe -15 C in the southwest corner.”
Because of the conditions, the weather office said there is a higher risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
Carlsen said we will see a slight but brief warmup for the weekend before a return to frigid conditions. The daytime high for Saturday rises to -11 C in Regina and -13 C in Saskatoon.
