The reward for help in finding missing Yorkton teen Mekayla Bali has been cut in half.
Last year, an anonymous donor doubled the reward to $50,000.
In a Facebook post in the group “Let’s Bring Mekayla Bali Home,” Bali’s mother, Paula, said the donor has requested his $25,000 back but doesn’t explain why.
Her post continues: “I am so grateful for the generosity and willingness of this individual to try to help us find a resolution, but I am saddened by the outcome. Not that the money had to be given back necessarily, but that Mekayla Bali remains missing and despite the increase in funds to her reward, no new information led to her whereabouts.”
April will mark the four-year anniversary of Bali’s disappearance.
She was last confirmed seen on the morning of April 12, 2016 at a Yorkton bus depot. She was 16 at the time.
There have been several reports of possible sightings since then — including one in Edmonton in the summer of 2019 — but none panned out.
