8:30 – A number of trucking companies have reported serious incidents of vandalism at the Co-op Refinery in Regina, where UNIFOR members have been picketing since management locked them out Dec. 5. We previously heard about long delays, but since a judge issued an order preventing the picketers from holding up trucks there have been a number of other issues that are worrying the trucking community. Heather Day, president of C.S. Day Transport Ltd., says truckers have reported everything from messages scrawled in the dirt on the sides of vehicles to tires punctured with homemade spikes, damaged airbags, unlatched hoods, contaminated fuel, and more. Day says some of the alleged sabotage could have fatal consequences, and it’s left the entire trucking community concerned. She joins Gormley now to discuss the issues the trucking industry has seen during the labour dispute.
