A Saskatoon business wants people to know a gas price hike wasn’t the work of the Grinch.
The 7-Eleven gas bar in Hampton Village took some heat on social media from customers who wondered why they were being charged so much more for gas on Christmas Day.
The pump price that day was 1.26 a litre, much higher than their competitors, many of which were closed for the holiday.
Ruth Thomas, the store’s manager, took to Facebook on Monday to offer an explanation for the inflated price.
“We experienced a software issue at the store level, which in turn was why the gas price was higher on that specific day,” she wrote.
To make things right with customers, the store will be slashing their gas price by 10-cents on New Year’s Day.
“Because we appreciate being a valued part of your community, we would like to extend an invitation to the Hampton Village Community.”
The promotion will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. on January 1st to 7:30 a.m. on January 2nd.
Thomas said the majority of people have been understanding.
