A suspect is facing attempted murder and other charges after Saskatoon City Police say they responded to a hostage situation late Saturday afternoon.
Police say a female was being held against her will by her boyfriend at a residence the couple shared on Willis Crescent.
They say a Crisis Negotiation Team and Tactical Support Unit were deployed after the male allegedly threatened to kill both his girlfriend and himself.
Investigators say officers were able to rescue the female and arrest the male without anyone being injured.
The male was subsequently charged with attempted murder, uttering death threats, unlawful confinement, choking to overcome resistance and assault.
He’s scheduled to appear before a justice of the peace Sunday morning.
