An investigation is underway to determine what sparked two small fires inside a City Park North home Christmas Day.
In a media release, the Saskatoon Fire Department said a man returned to his house in the 900 block of Eighth Avenue North around 11:30 p.m. to find flames.
He alerted firefighters and noted that one of the home’s other tenants was unaccounted for.
Four minutes later, crews arrived on scene and split up; some firefighters began tackling the blaze from the inside while others backed them up, and a third group began a search of the home. It was eventually determined there were no people or pets inside at the time.
The blaze was under control within 30 minutes.
Fire and police investigators are working to identify the cause.
According to the fire department, the damage estimate is not yet complete.
