Oh no! What are we ever going to do without Super Bowl commercials?
I say this with as thick sarcasm as possible.
The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that CTV and Bell can air their own commercials over top of the American commercials on Super Bowl Sunday.
That’s supported, by the way, by the NFL.
Now Canadians are upset that they don’t get the same content Americans do. Well, guess what Canada? That’s how it works.
Bell bought the rights for the Super Bowl for a reason, to air its commercials with its advertisers and make its money — not to get its business cut out from under it because of ‘public interest’ to get American content.
The crying over not seeing the commercials doesn’t make sense because the advertisers in the States are posting commercials online beforehand anyway.
Sit back, enjoy the game and the halftime show, and use the commercial breaks for what they were always meant to be: Time for a bathroom break, refresh the drink or whine about the officials.
