A Winnipeg company has been fined $560,000 in Moose Jaw Provincial Court in connection with the death of a man on a worksite near Eyebrow.
It’s the largest fine ever handed out in the province for a workplace fatality.
The incident happened on Feb. 13, 2017, when a wheel loader rolled backwards and pinned the worker between the loader and another vehicle. Jesse Hoehn, a resident of Davidson, was 25 when he died.
The company, Langenburg Redi-Mix Ltd., was found guilty of two violations of occupational health and safety legislation during a court appearance on Sept. 23. The fines were announced in court Tuesday.
The company was fined $200,000 on each count plus a surcharge of $160,000.
