Not only did RJ Barrett make his father very happy, but he has just helped this country’s chances of getting to Tokyo in 2020.
Canada took notice of the Toronto Raptors’ championship run back in June. Now, will this be a country that takes notice of the nation’s best wearing the maple leaf as it tries to secure a spot in the 2020 Olympic Games?
Barrett, who was the third overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, has committed to join the national senior team as it attempts to secure a spot in Tokyo. (RJ’s dad is Basketball Canada’s men’s high performance general manager.) Canada will play in a six-team, last-chance tournament in Victoria in June. The winner secures a berth in the Games.
