It was a tense morning for staff and customers Wednesday at the Walmart on Blairmore.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a suspicious package in the warehouse shortly before 9 a.m., Saskatoon Fire confirms.
The haz-mat unit, along with decontamination, mobile command units, and fire crews immediately responded.
They cleared out the store and placed two employees and two police officers into isolation as a precaution. Shoppers were told to take shelter.
Crews conducted tests on the package, which was thought to contain a hazardous substance.
The results were negative, and the package was confirmed to be non-hazardous.
No one was injured and there’s no risk to public safety.
Crews have since left the scene, and the incident is now under the jurisdiction of the Saskatoon Police Service.
