The Saskatoon SPCA is hosting an adoption drive to find new homes for an influx of cats and kittens in its care.
“We’ve had so many come in that we did a little headcount the other day and we actually have over 175 cats in our care,” spokesperson Jasmine Hanson told 650 CKOM.
Typically the shelter and associated fosters take care of 100 to 150 felines, Hanson explained.
Over the month of November, the Saskatoon SPCA is lowering adoption fees from $85 for adult cats to $25.
The rate for kittens is moving from $200 to $50 during the month-long event.
“We just do not have space for the endless numbers that are coming in,” she said.
According to Hanson, the SPCA usually sees an increase in cats brought in when the weather gets cooler because people start worrying more about conditions.
