Temperatures are expected to shoot up into the teens Friday across Saskatchewan, but don’t get used to it.
A cold front on the way from Alberta will spread blustery conditions throughout the province Friday evening and into Saturday.
Environment Canada issued wind warnings Friday morning for the southwest, including Kindersley, Biggar, Leader, Gull Lake, Swift Current and Maple Creek.
“For most areas, gusts of 70 or 80 kilometres should be expected tonight. Some localities are likely to receive wind gusts of 90- or 100-kilometre winds this evening as the cold front passes through,” the weather office said on its website.
This weather system will bring above-normal temperatures Friday, but much colder temperatures for the weekend and carrying through early next week.
North doges snow
The same system was supposed to dump heavy snow in northern Saskatchewan, but Environment Canada’s David Baggaley says that is no longer the case with temperatures staying on the warm side.
“Fifteen to maybe 25 millimetres worth of rain in total. A little bit of snow falling in behind the system, but not the heavy snow fall event we were expecting earlier,” he said.
