The Heritage Classic is a great example for justifying building a state-of-the-art facility.
The NHL would never bring an outdoor and major event to Regina if there wasn’t a stadium like Mosaic here.
Sure, we’d love to see more major events to fill the calendar at Mosaic which would help pay off quicker the provincial loan that helped pay for the final $100 million. But it was an investment in Regina.

Saskatoon should be paying attention as it looks at a new downtown arena, although the people at SaskTel Centre do a great job of booking big acts.
These types of investments do put you on the map, so to speak. The NHL didn’t have Regina on the radar until the doors opened at Mosaic Stadium.
Let’s not minimize the fact they’ve decided on Saskatchewan and won’t worry about coming back — because as we all know, nobody hosts major events quite like Saskatchewan.
