Voter turnout in Saskatchewan was higher than the national average.
A total of 570,505 people in the province made it out to the polls for Monday’s federal election. That’s 71.7 per cent of eligible voters.
For all of Canada, the numbers were a bit lower: About 66 per cent filled in a ballot.
Turnout was mostly consistent throughout Saskatchewan. Nine ridings saw turnouts higher than 70 per cent.
The people of Souris-Moose Mountain had the highest turnout at 77.33 per cent. Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek came in second with 76.76 per cent.
Cypress Hills-Grasslands (75.93 per cent), Saskatoon-University (75.74), Saskatoon-Grasswood (75.55), Regina-Wascana (74.73), Regina-Lewvan (74.19), Moose Jaw-Lake Centre-Lanigan (73.49) and Yorkton-Melville (71.73) also exceeded 70 per cent.
Battlefords-Lloydminster (68.95), Regina-Qu’Appelle (68.84), Prince Albert (68.53), Saskatoon West (62.72) and Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River (56.38) rounded out Saskatchewan’s list.
The province saw a slight uptick from the 2015 election, when turnout was at 71.1 per cent.
