NFL officials are again under extreme heat from players, media, and fans following Week 6 of the regular season.
Trey Flowers was flagged for not one but two hands-to-the-face calls on Monday night, which basically cost the Detroit Lions a win over the Green Bay Packers.
There have been many calls during this regular season that have angered millions across the continent. (Officiating has been a hot button issue since New Orleans was robbed of a Super Bowl appearance last winter.)
It appears as if few, if any, steps were taken to right these wrongs. That is unacceptable in this billion-dollar industry called the NFL.
I understand that now more than ever scrutiny is at an all-time high because of social media.
However, to the former players and older fans that are saying bad calls are “part of the game,” they are wrong.
NFL officials now have off-field officials and video review to get calls right.
Somehow they are still missing calls and that’s unacceptable with the resources and technology that exist today.
