We’ll see where this Hail Mary lands for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Bombers acquired quarterback Zach Collaros on Wednesday in the lone trade on CFL trade deadline day.
And with it, they show their hand that despite having faith in Chris Streveler, they’re not even convinced Streveler can get the job done.
Collaros can get acclimatized quickly and could theoretically start the season-finale against Calgary before the playoffs begin.
This is reminiscent of the Riders picking up Kerry Joseph in 2014, after the season derailed because of Darian Durant’s injury. Joseph couldn’t save them. He threw five interceptions in the West Division semifinal, in a game they still could have won.
I’m not sure this will work out any better for the Bombers. However, if it does and somehow Collaros starts a game in the playoffs against the Riders, that is a storyline fit for a Hollywood script.
And it’s a story I’d love to see happen.
