Personal details. Name, age, hometown
Randy Hoback, 51. I live in Shellbrook.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve been happily married for 32 years and we have two grown children. For the past 11 years, I have been the MP for the riding of Prince Albert.
What’s a little-known fact about you?
I love movies in the theatre (older theatre the better) … Large Coke, hot dog and a small popcorn extra butter!
Why should voters hire you?
I put the needs of others before my own. The Conservative Party has the best platform for the needs of the constituents and our great country.
Who should we call for a reference?
Ralph Boychuk.
What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness?
I’m an excellent listener … My weakness is handwriting and horrible grammar skills.
Where do you stand on:
Gun laws? A Conservative government will take action to make it easier for police to target gang members and criminals and put them behind bars. Criminals don’t register their guns.
The need for more pipeline? In order to maximize and further develop our resources in an environmentally focused way, pipelines are required. Pipelines are the safest, most environmentally efficient system to get our products to global markets and receive a global price. Thousands of good high-paying jobs depend on them.
Western alienation?: I’m very concerned. I’m hearing a lot of discussions on Western Canada being neglected and ignored and if Trudeau gets back in, it is believed it will get even worse!
China? What should our approach be with some of our markets blocked? A measured direct response to any actions they have initiated.
Are we facing a climate change crisis? Is carbon tax the answer? Climate change is real and a carbon tax will have no impact on it.
It’s a day off and you can do anything you want. What would it be?
Spend time at the lake working on my garage or landscaping!
Who inspires you?
My parents instilled the values I have today.
What is your hidden talent?
I have a very mechanical mind.
What do you wish you could do but can’t?
Speak more languages including French and Spanish (still trying).
Who are the three people, dead or alive, that you’d love to have dinner with?
Margaret Thatcher, John Diefenbaker and my mom and dad (both deceased).
How do you take your coffee?
Three-plus creams (33 per cent real cream) with two sugars.
What’s the one album you’d take with you on a desert island? What embarrassing song do you admit to on your playlist?
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band’s “Greatest Hits.” “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Cigar and scotch.
What is the last book you read?
(No answer provided).
What is your favourite TV show? What are you binge watching?
M*A*S*H. At present, I’m too busy to be binge watching anything.
What is your all-time favourite movie?
Blues Brothers.
