A traffic stop and machete attack Monday night had a common theme: methamphetamine.
Just before 11:30 p.m. officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of 33rd St W and Ave P North.
In a release, police said while officers were dealing with the driver, the passenger was observed with brass knuckles and a knife. A 31-year-old man was immediately taken into custody and was found with 127.4 grams of methamphetamine and 4.4 grams of crack cocaine.
Around the same time, officers were dealing with the victim of a machete attack in the 1800 block of 22nd Street West.
A 34-year old man was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. Police said the victim knew his attacker.
The 20-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of weapon dangerous, mischief under $5000, breach of probation, and possession of methamphetamine.
Both men are scheduled to be in court on Tuesday.
