The death of Tun Win is considered the city’s 12th homicide of 2019.
He suffered life-threatening injuries during an assault at a home on the 600 block of 28th Street West on July 27, according to police.
In an update, police said the 49-year-old died in hospital on Sept 13.
A 31-year-old man, charged with aggravated assault shortly after the attack, has had his charges upgraded to manslaughter.
Police have not released any information about the suspect or if he knew the victim.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
