In an update, police said the 49-year-old died in hospital on Sept 13.
A 31-year-old man, charged with aggravated assault shortly after the attack, has had his charges upgraded to manslaughter.
Police have not released any information about the suspect or if he knew the victim.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
