Saskatoon police have charged a 25-year-old man after a wellness check in the Lakewood area went awry.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Herold Terrace at 9:05 p.m. Friday and found a man they describe as showing symptoms of psychosis.
While officers tried to get the man into custody for medical attention, a media release said he became abusive and injured the two officers.
Officers deployed a taser, but it did not affect the man, according to the release.
It took three additional officers to get the man into custody.
The suspect was transported to hospital and will be officially charged with two counts of assaulting an officer once he is medically cleared.
Two officers suffered minor injuries in the incident, which will be reviewed.
