Farm machinery is standard in these months, but so is wildlife as animals look for vegetation and seek out their winter homes.
“Right from the skunks and the raccoons right up to the deer and the moose, everything seems to be on the move,” said
Saskatoon Wildlife Federation Executive Director Michael Kincad.
He said it’s all about routine for the animals, and harvest time creates a change in their migration patterns.
In 2018, more than 14,000 claims were reported to SGI involving wildlife collisions.
Annually, just under 400 people are injured by the collisions, and four people die each year on average.
