The Saskatoon Fire Department got some help from a friendly neighbour over the weekend.
Crews were dispatched to a home in the 10 block of Verbeke Court shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday for a garage fire.
When they arrived, a neighbour was using his garden hose to prevent the fire from reaching the garage’s attic.
A media release from the fire department said firefighters were quickly able to extinguish any remaining hot spots.
A majority of the damage was limited to the exterior of the building and the home next door due to the close proximity and extreme heat.
Fire investigators called to the scene were unable to identify an immediate cause. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
A media release from Saskatoon Police said the fire started next to the garage. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 306-975-8300.
