It wasn’t a text book Labour Day Classic, but there is a lot to like about both the Bomber and Rider quarterbacks.
Chris Streveler survived a two interception game to lead the Bombers down field for a six minute, methodical, go ahead drive that helped Winnipeg take a six point fourth quarter lead. Keep in mind that Streveler played a key role in a win over Edmonton last month in a game that he rushed for more yards than he threw for. In turn Cody Fajardo, who needed to move the ball with urgency in the fourth quarter, got the ball to the Winnipeg 18 yard line in the final minutes to set up a game winning field goal, even though he threw two interceptions earlier in the contest.
Both Streveler and Fajardo proved why they have taken their respective careers to the pro level. Fumbles, interceptions and incomplete passes can’t re-enter the thought process or have an impact on confidence when you’re the leader, and your team has a chance to come out on top.
The mental toughness from both of these players is amazing.
