A garage fire late Saturday morning sent heavy black smoke over the Avalon neighbourhood.
Around 11:20 a.m. firefighters received multiple 911 calls about smoke coming from a garage at 2413 Albert Avenue, a media release said.
Inside the garage were two vehicles, two barrels of fuel and a tank of acetylene, a compound used in welding.
During the fire, which took less than 30 minutes to get under control, the fire department said the roof collapsed.
According to fire crews, heat from the blaze damaged the home, a neighbour’s property and a fence.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire and a damage estimate.
We're working to get more information about a fire at Ruth and Clarence this afternoon. For now we have this video submitted by Keith Willoughby.
