Highway 16 northwest of Yorkton is closed after a three-vehicle crash left the people involved with serious injuries, according to the RCMP.
In an emailed news release, RCMP said the crash happened at about 8 p.m., involving a semi, a van and a pickup truck. It closed the Yellowhead Highway 8 kilometres northwest of Springside, or 32 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.
As of 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the RCMP hadn’t given an update if the highway was open or closed, but the Saskatchewan highway hotline showed on its website that the road is open.
The original news release suggested Highway 10 and Highway 47 at Yorkton as possible alternate routes, due to the closure.
“The closure is expect to be for an extended period of time this evening,” the media release said.
Mounties are also asking that “if any witness saw this collision occur please contact the Yorkton RCMP at 306-786-2400.”
