We are 31 games into the CFL season and there is intrigue when looking ahead.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who appeared to be clear-cut favourites a month into the season, have suffered back-to-back losses, one to previously winless Toronto.
We have reached a point where B.C. Lions GM Ed Hervey is going to have to earn his money. B.C. has the highest-paid quarterback and one of the worst records in the league.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a win above .500, but have only beaten one contender and that’s Hamilton. Starting on Sept. 1, the Riders face the Bombers in three of their next five games. That will tell us a lot about the Green and White.
In the East, will the Ottawa Redblacks, not that far removed from Grey Cup glory, prove themselves to be contenders? Will Hamilton contend for a division title without injured quarterback Jeremiah Masoli? Has Montreal been lucky, or will the Als continue to improve and secure a playoff spot?
There is lots to be decided in the middle third of this CFL season.
