Curtis Korchinski is fed up with people who still choose to drink and drive.
“They aren’t getting hog tied, and having beer and hard alcohol poured down their throat. They are continuously making that decision to raise that glass,” he told 650 CKOM’s John Gormley Wednesday, one day after his close call with a suspected impaired driver.
Korchinski and his partner Jordan were coming back from a friends cabin on Tuesday afternoon when they were involved in a collision on Highway 2 and 791 south of Christopher Lake.
Korchinski said they had no time to stop when the eastbound car pulled onto the highway in front of them.
Luckily nobody was hurt, but Korchinski is blasting the other driver who he alleges was so intoxicated paramedics had to hold him up while police arrested him.
Angered over the experience, Korchinski took to Facebook to add his voice about the dangers of impaired driving.
“They could have killed us. Our two kids could have been complete orphans,” he said.
Korchinski said he’s glad to see a trend toward getting rid of the problem, but adds it’s still an “epidemic” that is “out of hand” in rural Saskatchewan.
“The RCMP that took my statement said that was the fifth drunk driving call that he had responded to that long weekend, just in his jurisdiction.”
“I don’t know when some of these Saskatchewan drivers will learn but it was a very shocking reality check,” he wrote on Facebook.
