An overlooked side of the dispute between the federal and provincial governments in the Investing in Canada Infastructure Plan is the projects waiting on the funding.
Saskatoon’s Gordie Howe Bowl and the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan building projects are awaiting the approval of the money.
The Friends of the Bowl’s chairperson, Bryan Kosteroski, said they have been working with all levels of government in their application.
“We are on the sidelines and waiting for the collaboration to continue, and looking for positive outcomes.”
The construction was halted in their project recently, and Kosteroski said they’re still working on finding additional funding, wherever it may be.
“We needed to slow things down, because capacity (at the facility), but also getting more money in place to move forward with major projects.
“(Funding) could be partners from the community, from business, and from government.”
Kosteroski said he expects the issue will be resolved, and expects to continue construction in the near future.
Meanwhile, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan provided no comment, but they will be holding their sod turning event on Saturday as planned.
