10:00 – A case in Coquitlam B.C. saw three people arrested this week for trying to prevent local conservation officers from destroying a family of bears that had become human habituated and had escaped several previous attempts to trap them. One local resident even said the bears weren’t a problem in the community, saying “you let them be, and they’ll let you be.” There’s been a huge spike in bear sightings in the area, including one incident where a bear broke into a home, largely due to people not taking proper care with their garbage and food. Brett Diemart is a conservation officer in Saskatchewan, and he joins John now to talk about why bears sometimes need to be destroyed, how that decision is reached, and what humans can do to help prevent it from ever needing to happen.

Robertson also says Trudeau’s inaction on our trade dispute with China is no kind of long-term strategy, and we need to push back. He joins John now to talk about how Canada should be tackling our dispute with the Asian superpower.
